Helblitzen

Finally, the last of my infantry units is done!!

The reliquary started off as a flagellant accessory I think, but then I added a back and doors and popped it on a pole with supports then added the tassels, it has turned out quite nice I think.

HELBLITZEN

The Helblitzen make up the bulk of all the imperial soldiers and Heiligsheld is no exception.

These are led by Jurgen Lebowski who is in charge of the day to day running of the garrison.
Jurgen grew up with Count Halven and they have been friends since childhood.
He is the master of ceremonies and a capable, albeit aging leader.

The reliquary carried by Karl Frazetta is from the private chapel to Morr from the Halven manor house.

It is said to protect them from a visit from Morr and help keep the soldiers from visiting his kingdom before their time.

It is said that this protection is possible thanks to some arcane ritual that the bearer must make with Morr, some sort of deal with death himself, as part of this ritual the bearer, in this case Karl, is bestowed the title of death dealer.
The exact details of this ritual or deal are known only to Karl and Johannes Andreaes the Hohenexe.

They have been added to my website proper:

  1. Excellent.

Karl the Death Dealer... Reminds me of Kevin Land Waster or Geoffrey the Assassin.

    1. Thank you!
Not familiar with them, are they from Discworld?

    2. Kevin Landwaster is from Stephen Donaldson's Thomas Covenant books. The name didn't really fit his character..

And Jeffrey (corrected) was the name given to the tough and ruthless assassin played by Chow Yun Fat in John Woo's 1989 film The Killer. We laughed out loud in the cinema when we saw the subtitles...

  2. Impressive. The skeletons on the reliquary add quite a visual effect!!

I was not sure what to put on them, but they seemed right for both Stirland and an item from a chapel of Morr.

  3. Love the unit.

Another beautiful miniature here as captain, I’m not sure if this one or the count is my favourite.

      They are both fairly iconic.
I know which one was the quicker to paint!
