Mhinz Abeir

Over on the Oldhammer Forum the monthly challenge is both Femuary and Februhairy.
Sensible female models and hairy models.

I am quite close to finishing my next big build, but these 2 models that fitted the theme also belong to the big build.

For Femuary we have Sabine Stockhausen a landlady.

Not the greatest model and not the greatest paintjob, but it gets the job done.

And for Februhairy we have Bugmans Beer Cart.

Here is the original as seen in a White Dwarf:

and here is my homage to it.

The cart is not the original original but the original as now once again available.
It was just as horrid to file/sand/fill and assemble as it was back in the day.

I wanted to try and mostly copy the paintjob of the original.
It made me realise I had not painted blue clothes on a model in about 20 years, which is a thing...
I changed my normal skin recipe as I decided that with dwarves having been alive so much longer than men they likely would be a darker skinned.

Slight changes made to the original paintjob:

I made the X's on the barrel a bit neater, I added roasted peanuts to the bar snacks (KP peanuts for sure innit.)
Then a corkscrew on the other side for ladies and elves as clearly they drink wine or babycham.

Unlike the original paintjob I did the bar towel across the pony in the same colours as the bar towel on the wagon and painted the letters on it.

The bar towel on the cart says Bugmans, and I am 95% sure the bar towel on the pony says Drink, which makes sense as when laid on a bar that is a clear message.

Anyway.

Until next time!!

  1. Wow that’s amazing work I particularly love the cart and now we have a dwarf in the village.

If one of my regiments stops of at the inn, now everyone will be catered for!

    1. Thanks dude.
The cart took a while but it is a classic old model that oozes oldhammery goodness.

Hey are you forgetting Uli the Dwarf who works at the Pertwee farm?

As long as your chaps bring coin they are very welcome!

    1. Thanks, it is true that the cart is a much better finished article than the landlady.
