Count Halven

COUNT HALVEN

For a number of generations, the Halven family has lived in the Manor House just outside the village of Heiligsheld.

From here the Count commands the garrison which protects not only the village of Heiligsheld but the nearby hamlets.

A modest and devout man, the Count lives in a simple manor house with his wife Carmilla and a few servants.

The garrison consists of 15 Helblitzen, 10 Erzatsolder and 10 Ambrustschutzen, more than enough to deter bandits, mutants, and the occasional goblin raiding party.

Should the need arise, the woodsmen let by Martyn, and the villagers themselves will also rally to defend the village.

Here we see the Count in full battle gear, resplendent in its coloured finery.
The armour is blessed by Johannes Andreaes prior to each battle as is his mighty Warhammer, “MachtigAver”.

  1. One of my all time favourite models. Painted up beautifully here, love how you have got the eyes.

35 retainers is a few, so I am imagining a fortified mansion at least, like an old Tudor Manor ….otherwise where would anyone sleep? You might even need a watchtower somewhere along the road. Would make sense to have something middle distance between the house and the village?

    1. Thank You!!

The troops are in a barracks building in the Counts grounds.

I am tempted to use Townscape Manor House and add my own Tower to it.
We will see though, to be pure to the townscape buildings the tower may be a separate model.

The Counts manor is only about half a mile or so from the village, which is what, a 10 minute walk?

It is all pretty close to be honest, as it stands at the moment anyway...

    2. Yeh that makes sense.

Still with 35 men you might want them a few locations. 35 men in one location all the time would get sweaty.

What’s the population of your village? How far is your next major town?

    3. The nearest sizeable town is about one and a half days walk away.
Other than that all currently decided information is here:

Much is in flux until it is made and painted!

    4. Yes I do check that every now and then.

A day an a half means there somewhere half way to sleep?

Maybe you can put your map on your website?
